During my time at Arnett I never thought that I would make it this far in my life, or be this ready for what has come out of high school, but here we all are in high school. We’re getting ready to go out to the real world thanks to everything that started in Arnett.
We all know that it was the best schools around; it might not have been the best equipped, but it was definitely the schools with the most pizazz.
Arnett had teachers that would go out of their way to help you no matter what, if you didn’t understand something they wouldn’t stop until they knew you had it. They would go the extra distance just to help students.
But of all the reasons I could say as to why it was the best there is one that stands above the rest. It was a place where everyone got to make friends and come together and start coming into their own. That is why Arnett is the best school around.

Lady Juggernaut Basketball
The Lady Juggernauts are back at it again. So far the Lady Juggs are 4-2. They have beat Newport, Bellevue, Henry County, and Cincinnati School of Preforming Arts. They have a busy week ahead! Thursday they will take on Heritage Academy, Friday they will face Covington Latin, and Saturday they will go against Bishop Brossart.
There are 6 seniors, 2 sophomores, and 4 freshmen on the varsity team this year. I asked senior Jordan Gentry what it was like to be a senior playing basketball, and Jordan said “the hardest thing is there are a whole bunch of freshmen, but we are starting to bond as a team.”
The girls had their first official practice on October 15th. They have a study session on Mondays until 4:30 then practice until 6:30. The rest of the week they practice from 3:30 to 5:30. All of this practice and hard work will pay off for our Lady Juggs. “For the first time in many many many years we will have a winning record” Jordan said optimistically. Good luck ladies in the rest of the season. Go Juggs!

On the left is one of his senior pictures, on the right is his prom picture, and in the middle is a baby picture of him with his sister. Mr. K graduated from Dayton High School in 1991. During high school, he loved playing music, swimming (he was a lifeguard), running, tennis and “trying to find Mrs. Right...” He sure did find his Mrs. Right, his prom date, his “high school sweetheart” that is now Mrs. K.
Mr. K dreamed of being a pilot or an astronaut.

On the right is a picture of him at Disney. He was 22 years old and a cheerleader for NKU. At this time in his life he “enjoyed studying ALL day, going to class, and NKU Basketball.”

As the season of giving has quickly overcome our minds, we have found a relief from all the stress: online shopping. Online shopping is quick, easy, and definitely a relaxing way to spend to all your dollars.
One of the most thrilling aspects of online shopping is waiting for the package to get to your house. Nothing is better than coming home from school and seeing a little brown box on your doorstep. It`s a present from the gods above (and also the reason you`re broke).
Even though pay day comes and goes in one day, online shopping is always there for you. J Even when you`re broke, you can visit the sites you need and save the items in your shopping cart. Trust us; they WILL wait for your pay day to come around again.
One great tip is to always check RetailMeNot before finalizing a purchase. Helllllo save a little money!

Chef Singleton’s Kitchen
For those of you who haven’t been painstakingly counting down the days, I am pleased to announce that winter break is just around the corner. I’m sure that everyone is waiting for it to come, just as I am, whether it be to celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, any other holiday, or just to get some time off from school. Since it is the season of giving, I feel it would be wrong of me to keep my semi-weekly creations to myself. So, I will be treating the Tatler Staff to some Christmas inspired cookies ginger cookies. They’re a great snack for almost anything this season, from putting them out for Santa to stuffing your face.
Ingredients:
* 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons ground ginger
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 3/4 cup margarine, softened
* 1 cup white sugar
* 1 egg
* 1 tablespoon water
* 1/4 cup molasses
* 2 tablespoons white sugar
Directions:
* Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
* In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and molasses. Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Shape dough into walnut sized balls, and roll them in the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly.
* Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

You Just Can’t Hide That Mustang Pride

You all had that teacher that you hated and naps that you took for granted in elementary school, but often you may find yourself looking back, remembering the good ole days. Hardly any homework, although it may have seemed like a bunch then, and a full hour to just go outside and play? Yeah, most teens would say they miss elementary school. But only one elementary is able to trump all the rest.
Miles Elementary, a school where the cafeteria food wasn’t actually so bad, is truly the superior school in comparison to Howell, Lindeman, and Arnett. This is the place where students found their favorite teacher, and made those lifelong friends you never speak to anymore. At Miles, memories have been made. Not really important memories, but the joyful, childlike memories that are still found so special.
Every once in a while, you may stop and think about something silly you did when you were younger. But guess what? No matter how hard you may wish for it to be true, your experience simply was not as good as the kid that went to Miles. Children at Miles had adventures, and if you’re from my generation, you know what it was like to face the wrath of musical Ms. Peak.
Defend your honor, students of Miles, and stand proud. You come from a noble legion.

Howell Elementary: Home of the Gators!
Alright. So there has been a lot of talk going around about which elementary school in our district is the best. First off, no other school has a name to call their students as cool as Howell-agators. Lions, Falcons, and Mustangs….. nothing compares to the Howell-agators. I mean, look how cute our mascot is? Dorothy Howell is not just known about their awesome mascot; this place really values education and makes sure that everyone is exactly where they need to be. There are advanced programs, drama and theater, and a variety of sports and clubs. Everyone is able to find a place to fit in. I remember when I went to Howell, I participated in a cooking club where we made tasty treats after school. I also involved in the advanced learning program. It was also a great time seeing some of my classmates perform some pretty top-notch plays! I would not have chosen a different elementary school, I am proud to be a gator!

Winter Guard Season’s Greetings

For the first time in four years, the Lloyd Winter Guard is back and ready to compete. Our former color guard vets are on board for this season, along with a whole new set of recruits who may be a little too energetic. Using both flags and weapons, this season’s guard will twirl their way to the top.
Often overlooked as an athletic sport, guard requires intense focus and stamina. Exercises include tosses, dances, and stretches, all which demand total physical/mental control. Guard members must have leg strength to hold poses and finish the routine while maintaining the upper body strength to complete tosses.
When asked what the guard veterans were most excited about for this season’s winter guard, they were more than happy to share their responses.
Daniel-“I’m excited to bring Lloyd back into competing in winter guard and showing schools what we’re capable of.”
Alexis-“Um, like, bonding with the newbies and winning.”
Ashley-“My wise words: Guard is love; Guard is life. Du du du du du.”
Calen-“The new season and the unknown of a new extracurricular activity outside of marching band season.”
With competitions heading our way, the guard will be pushing themselves to the limits in order to prepare. Flag, rifle, saber, you name it, we spin it.

Lindeman Pride

Out of all the elementary schools in our district, Lindeman is by far the best. We are the most diverse elementary. We have races expanding from Caucasian to Mexican, to Mauritanian. We have an excelling ESL program that has helped out our foreign kids tremendously.
We are the mighty Lions, king of the jungle! We also have results to go along with our name. We have had rising test scores for the past few years. As these young kids devoted their life’s to achieve school goals.
Whether it’s Arnett, Miles, or Howell no school has the home feel that Lindeman has. You feel like you’re at home while you get a tremendous education. The teachers are great, with outstanding experience on hand. Lindeman is indeed the elementary you want to send your child to.
